DISCOVER EXCELLENCE

This foundational, two-day workshop introduces participants to the Shingo Model, the Shingo Guiding Principles™ and Three Insights of Enterprise Excellence. With active discussions and on-site learning at a host organization, this program is a highly interactive experience. it is designed to make yours, and each participants’, learning meaningful and immediately applicable as you discover how to release the latent potential in an organization to achieve enterprise excellence. It provides the basic understanding needed in all Shingo workshops; therefore, it is a prerequisite to all the other Shingo workshops, and concludes with the BUILD EXCELLENCE workshop.

Participants will…

  1. LEARN and Understand the Shingo Model
  2. DISCOVER the Three Insights of Enterprise Excellence
  3. EXPLORE how the Shingo Guiding Principles inform ideal behaviors, which lead to sustainable results
  4. UNDERSTAND the behavioral assessment process through an interactive case study and on-site learning

SYSTEMS DESIGN

This NEW two-day workshop integrates classroom and on-site experiences at a host facility to build upon the knowledge and experience gained in the DISCOVER EXCELLENCE workshop, and focuses on the Systems and Tools aspects of the Shingo Model. It begins by explaining that all work in an organization is the outcome of a system. Systems must be designed to create a specific end objective; otherwise, they evolve on their own. Systems drive the behavior of people, and variation in behavior leads to variation in results. Organizational excellence requires well-designed systems to drive idea behaviors that are required to produce sustainable results.

Participants will…

  1. DISCOVER three types of essential systems
  2. EXPLORE five required tools for each system
  3. LEARN how to create and use system maps
  4. UNDERSTAND system standard work and how it drives improvement

CULTURAL ENABLERS

This two-day workshop integrates classroom and on-site experiences at a host facility to build upon the knowledge and experience gained in the DISCOVER EXCELLENCE workshop. It takes you deeper into the Shingo Model by focusing on the principles identified in the Cultural Enablers dimension:

  • Respect Every Individual
  • Lead with Humility
 

Cultural Enablers principles make it possible for people in an organization to engage in the transformation journey, progress in their understanding and ultimately build a culture of enterprise excellence. Enterprise excellence is impossible to be achieved through top-down directives or piecemeal implementation of tools. It requires a widespread organizational commitment. The CULTURAL ENABLERS workshop will help you define ideal behaviors and the systems that drive them using behavioral benchmarks.

NOTE: DISCOVER EXCELLENCE is prerequisite to this workshop.

CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT

In order for continuous improvement to be sustainable – not just happen in fits and starts – it must be made part of the culture of the organization; a matter of course every day for every team member. To make your organization’s culture truly one of continuous improvement, you need a deeper understanding of which ideal behaviors to cultivate within your workforce.

This three-day workshop integrates classroom and on-site experiences at a host facility to build upon the knowledge and experience gained at the DISCOVER EXCELLENCE workshop. It begins by teaching participants how to  clearly define value through the eyes of your customers. It continues the discussion about ideal behaviors, fundamental purpose and behavioral benchmarks as they relate to the principles of Continuous Improvement, and takes you deeper into the Shingo Model by focusing on the principles identified in the Continuous Improvement dimension:

  • Assure Quality at the Source
  • Flow & Pull Value
 

The CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT workshop deepens your understanding of the relationship between behaviors systems and principles, and how they drive results.

ENTERPRISE ALIGNMENT & RESULTS

This two-day workshop integrates classroom and on-site experiences at a host facility to build upon the knowledge and experience gained at the DISCOVER EXCELLENCE workshop. It takes you deeper into the Shingo Model by focusing on the principles identified in the Enterprise Alignment and Results dimensions:

  • Think Systemically
  • Create Constancy of Purpose
  • Create Value for the Customer
 

To succeed, organizations must develop management systems that align work and behaviors with principles and direction in ways that are simple, comprehensive, actionable and standardized. Organizations must get results, and creating value for customers is ultimately accomplished through he effective alignment of value streams in an organization. The ENTERPRISE ALIGNMENT & RESULTS workshop continues the discussion around defining idea behaviors and the systems that drive them, understanding fundamental beliefs and using behavioral benchmarks.

BUILD EXCELLENCE

This two-day capstone workshop integrates classroom and on-site experiences at a host facility to enhance and crystallize the knowledge and experience gained from the previous five Shingo workshops. The BUILD EXCELLENCE workshop demonstrates the integrated execution of systems that drive behavior toward the idea as informed by the principles in the Shingo Model. The workshop helps to develop a structured approach to execute a cultural transformation. It builds upon a foundation of principles, using tools that already exist within many organizations. It teaches you how to build systems that drive behavior which will consistently deliver desired results.

In this final Shingo workshop, participants will…

  1.  DESIGN or create a system, guided by the Shingo Model, that changes behaviors to close gaps and drives results closer to organizational goals and purpose
  2. ANSWER the question: “How do I get everyone on board?”
  3. BUILD on the principles of enterprise excellence
  4. UNDERSTAND the relationship between behaviors, systems, and principles, and how they drive results
  5. LEARN how KBIs drive KPIs and how this leads to excellent results
 
NOTE: BUILD EXCELLENCE participation requires completion of all five previous workshops.
